The Case of The Counterfeit Constructicons!

Okay, so I went to Big Lots, drawn by rumors of strange, neon, bootleg transformers. Here's one of four KOs that I found:

The first member of one of the two-packs I got is a bootleg of Long Haul, whom I have named "Haul".

As you can see, the vehicle mode is pretty much unchanged from the original. Because of the changes made to the arms (see below), the wheels in front seem incapable of rolling when dragged.

In robot mode, the most significant change from the original is the arms; They're shorter and like the flip-out fists of the original. These new arms (and the rest of the figure) also lack holes to attach any weapons to, which could be bad if he ever encounters some Autobots. The figure seems be made of decent quality plastic. Long Haul/Haul comes with no accessories.

Blogger won't me upload new pics right now, so tomorrow I'll detail Haul's comrade; Crush

Death's Head hoax cover

Death's Head...A mechanoid Freelance Peacekeeping Agent who wanders through time and space, originally created by Simon Furman & Geoff Senior. He first appeared in a one-page comic strip called "High Noon Tex" so that Marvel could establish the rights to him before his Transformers UK appearance (in UK continuity, he killed Bumblebee. He got better...). Later he fought The Doctor, the protaganist of the BBC series Doctor Who, then went to the far future and fought the Dragon's Claws (imagine the world as a giant FPS multiplayer arena. The Claw's are the government's enforcers, trying to pacify the "players"), at which point he kinda died. Then he was rebuilt by genius gang member, who tried to be his sidekick. Death's Head later travelled to the year 2020 and met the Iron Man of (*shock*) 2020, Arno Stark. After a friendly brawl, Death's Head tells Arno, who was now feeling disenchanted with being a merc, to hang in there and believe in himself. He also ran into She-Hulk, the Fantastic Four, & Kang. He was reimagined (butchered) in the early 90s by Dan Abnett & Liam Sharp, during which time he seemed to appear in every Marvel UK comic at some point.
In 1994, Furman & Senior collaborated on What If? #54, What If Death's Head I had lived? (Expect a review in THE FUTURE.)
Recently, Death's Head turned up in the S.W.O.R.D. series. Supposedly, this is DH before he met the Transformers, but due the differances in design, I just classify him as the Death's Head of the Earth-616 universe...

Win!/Fail.

Okay, I'm going do a comic review now. I'll probably do something similar at random intervals...here's explaination of my review format; Win!-Good stuff, Fail.-Bad stuff, Notes-random thoughts, Verdict-here I'll give either a Win! (a good story you should look for) or Fail (avoid like the plague) decision. Now, on to the reviewing...

-Elseworld's Finest: Supergirl & Batgirl

Win!

-The redesigned costumes of Supergirl & Batgirl.

-The redesigns of everybody in general and Captain Marvel, Barda, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Hawkgirl, & Abin Sur in particular.

-The art.

-The Joker.

-Luthor's past...actions (spoiler averted).

-Batgirl as the dictator of Gotham City-state. Her batmobile is also cooler-looking than the regular batmobile.

Fail.

-I can't think of any flaws.

Notes

-The flashback panels show intresting tidbits; We see the baseline versions of Captain Marvel, The Flash, & Black Canary, Wonder Woman in her Golden Age costume, all looking at a blueprint with Lex Luthor. It would be neat if there was a chronolgy presented for the JSA's foundation...

Verdict

-Win!

-Batman: Dark Allegiances

Win!
-Bat-man's redesign & the bat-gadgets.

Fail.
-Pretty much everything else. The Joker, Penguin, & Two-Face running around without anyone batting an eye? That's pretty much like Chicken Boo, only not good.

Notes
-Not good.

Verdict
-Fail.

Well, that's it for now, until next time.
